Developing and implementing Legal KPIs: accountability and transparency.

Legal key performance indicators may include measuring spend to budget, outside counsel spend, and contract cycle to close as well as many others. At my company, all departments have KPIs that they are responsible for (accountability)  and reporting on the wins and misses (transparency).  When we achieve those numbers there is a sense of team success as well as ownership in our work and recognizable evidence of our contribution to the team. Let’s discuss what best practices for developing legal KPIS your colleagues have learned as well as the benefits of transparent accountability to the company as a whole.

[ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION] [EMERALD BAY 7]

Corporate Governance and Compliance, FCPA and Anti-Trust

As the third in a triumvirate of releases on compliance programs, the Department of Justice (DOJ) Antitrust Division, in July of 2019, released its Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs in Criminal Antitrust Investigations (Antitrust compliance program guidance). This follows the DOJ Criminal Division’s release of its Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs, (ABC Guidance) in April of 2019 and the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) release of A Framework for OFAC Compliance Commitments, (OFAC Framework) in May of 2019 These three documents go a long way in cementing the need for robust and effective compliance for corporations. In this session, Debra Kuper will provide an overview of the Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs in Criminal Antitrust Investigations and spend time discussing the elements of an effective antitrust compliance program, sentencing considerations and what this new guidance means for anti-corruption and anti-bribery compliance.

A Marketer and Lawyers Guide to the CCPA

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives California consumers new rights over their data, but it's causing more challenges for marketers. With the law going into effect on 1 Jan 2020, how should marketers prepare for rights to request, delete and opt-out of the sale of personal information? How can marketers comply with privacy laws while remaining on-brand, customer-centric and maximizing opt-in? In this session, we’ll share what marketers need to know about the CCPA, provide a 6-step guide to demonstrating ongoing compliance and share best practices for creating an effective and compliant CCPA marketing strategy.

Takeaways:

  • Understand the implications and industry impact of the new CCPA for marketers

  • Learn how to comply with the CCPA, including: "do not sell", right to request and right to delete personal information

  • Discover how to build an on-brand and compliant CCPA marketing strategy

[CLOSING PRESENTATION] [ALL TRACKS] [ORANGE BLOSSOM BALLROOM]

A CMO, a GC, and a CHRO walk into a bar…..it must have been set too low.

We all came to the conference hoping for a few helpful take-aways or those “five new ideas” we can implement on Monday morning. We were updated on topics from digital transformation and boardroom development, to brand refreshes and talent acquisition; about ways to improve our business’s operating results. This upbeat closing session will tie it altogether, but will focus on you, the successful leader – and what could be holding you back from your next promotion, raise or job. We’re going to look at common habits that you may barely be aware of – but, might be sabotaging your own future success – and how to break them.
