Presentation Summary:

Micron’s leadership development programs go beyond the classroom to challenge our global leaders with solving critical business projects using the skills and behaviors of a new leadership framework. Key to our success was to engage our Leadership as Skill Champions and make sure they have skin in the game.


Presenter Bio:

Steinar Hjelle is talent management vice president at Micron Technology. He is responsible for the company’s global talent management strategies. Mr. Hjelle joined Micron in 2014 as director of talent development and was appointed to his current position in 2017.

Prior to Micron, Mr Hjelle served as vice president of talent management and chief learning officer at Seattle-based Group Health Cooperative. His previous positions include senior leadership roles in talent development, executive development, leadership development and new employee orientation for Raytheon Defense and Aerospace, Phoenix Life, IBM and General Electric, as well as technology and operations leader for The Hartford. Mr. Hjelle also served as a major and commanding officer in the Royal Norwegian Air Force where he was responsible for all training and development programs.

Mr. Hjelle earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and statistics from the Norwegian Air Force Academy and his master’s degree in business administration from BI Norwegian Business School. He was appointed to the Idaho Workforce Development Council and served on the Governor’s Workforce Development Task Force.
